After about 5 minutes of chatting, I handed her my second camera and asked her if she wanted to help me shoot. She was very appreciative and gladly accepted. I showed her a couple of settings, and she took off working like she had been doing it for years. The smile on her face and the excitement in her voice was a moment I will never forget. She was able to get her peers and DeMarcus Lawrence to react to the camera in a way that was so special.
After the backpack and autographs were given out, she walked up to DeMarcus Lawrence and asked to take my picture with him. He saw her Boys and Girls Club t-shirt and my camera around her neck and said, “that’s how it’s supposed to be!” In a quick minute, she took my camera and touched my heart. I can only hope, in our short interaction, I was able to make an impact on her as she had on me.
