Before starting our photo shoot, many clients have naturally expressed some concern about how they will look in the final pictures. Sometimes, they worry about imperfections in their hair or makeup, but occasionally, I’ll get a client who doesn’t feel quite comfortable showing off their smile. A few weeks before one shoot, one in particular was self-conscious and asked what she could do to make sure her smile looked the way she wanted it to. Here’s the advice I gave her.
These habits may seem small, but brushing and flossing your teeth every single day can make a huge impact on how you feel about your smile. Daily stains, plaque, and other unsightly dental issues can build up over time, but if you stay on top of your dental hygiene, you can stop these problems before they have a chance to begin. On the day of the shoot, make sure you brush and floss right before we begin. After all, the last thing you want is some food stuck in your teeth!
Discoloration can make your smile appear less vibrant than it otherwise would. Fortunately, there are many whitening products that can lift these stains from your teeth. Special toothpastes and commercial products take some time for the full effect, but you can achieve a few shades of whiteness over the course of about two weeks. Just make sure you plan ahead!
For more dramatic results, you’ll need to turn to more powerful solutions. Your cosmetic dentist in Plano has whitening bleach that can brighten your smile by up to eight shades in only one in-office visit. That’s much better than anything available online or at the store.
If it has been a while since you’ve visited your dentist in Plano, make sure you at least keep your six-month appointment. During the cleaning, they can remove hardened plaque and surface stains that’ll have your teeth feeling fresh and clean. However, if have visual imperfections in your smile that you want to correct like chips or gaps, talk to your dentist about how you want your teeth to look. They can offer services that make your dream smile a reality—whether it’s through porcelain veneers, which many celebrities have, or direct bonding, which can be usually be completed in just one visit.
Once you’re there at our photo shoot, it’s time to stop worrying. Don’t think about the camera in front of you, and just be yourself. Let your personality shine through, enjoy the moment, and your photos will turn out amazing!
In the end, she had a blast during our photo shoot and loved how everything came out. With a little bit of preparation you too can have the perfect smile for your photo shoot—and with an experienced photographer like me—you can have pictures that you’ll cherish for years to come.
